Our Rich Heritage: 50 Years of Family, Friendship, and Culinary Tradition at TK Prime

The story of TK Prime started 50 years ago. It is rooted in family, friendship, and tradition. In 1973, Steve (Bubba) and Glenda Kolb became the concessionaires at Thousand Hills State Park.
It was just a little marina and very small grill that served hot dogs and hamburgers. Throughout the years, the marina grew, cabins were added, and a new restaurant was built. Steve and Glenda built a reputation at the restaurant of excellent food and service. The lake restaurant evolved hosting thousands of guests for graduations, proms, special occasions, or just a night out.
The restaurant was all about family, as Steve cooked and Glenda would host guests into the dining room. Their son and daughter Jeremy and Penny grew up around the restaurant, helping out where they could. Jeremy would eventually learn the restaurant business and worked in the kitchen. The restaurant would hire a young Truman student named Robin Martz, who started waiting tables and working as a hostess. Not only was she their star employee, she became Robin Kolb, marrying Jeremy. The two of them went on to preserve Steve’s legacy after he passed away in 2013 by continuing what he started and raising their young family there.

The restaurant was forged in friendship, when a 15 year old Bobby Theobald started working for the Kolb family. Bobby worked at the marina and restaurant. He cleaned boats during the. day and washed dishes at night. Jeremy and Bobby spent a lot of time together and became very close friends, more like brothers you could say. TK Prime is a combination of the tradition of 50 years of family and friendship. In December 2022, Jeremy and Robin Kolb met with Bobby and Janeen Theobald. A decision was made that a new era of fine dining was needed in the town that they grew up in and loved, Kirksville, MO.
